The Problem which you can face with Digg!

Hey don’t think that I am gonna do some thing wrong with the topic, I know digg is the most popular site (Not from Alexa Rank or Google Rank point of view) and digg has worked fine for me. The main concept of digg was to get content from users and then the group of users will decide whether that content was good or bad.

I am writing this article just because I personally faced a few problem with digg and so thought to share it with you people. I know I can get the suggestions from my friends so that I won’t be facing the same problem again.

Now let me first tell you about how digg works (for those who are not aware from digg):

You can always submit your favorite article, video or image to digg and your submission will immediately come into Upcoming Stories section of that category.

Once a submission got a few good number of diggs then that news will become pouplar and will come to the homepage of that category. Well none of my submitted news has achieved that feet yet, lol, I am not so intelligent.

You can also discover news from different categories. Then you can either digg the news or bury that one too. You can also share your news with the group of friends. You can also discuss or post comment on that news. More information on how digg works can be achieved from here.

Now come to the interesting part which I faced in digg. Say for example you have submitted an article from your website and for your bad luck your site faced some sort of problem, and the link which you have posted in digg will not open, then you are in big problem.

Your site will get burried by different people and digg will post your site as spam. All your good work will go in vein, whatever will be the reason of the site being down. I too faced the problem, when I changed a bit of permalink in my Wordpress blog and all the URL’s of my site got changed and digg banned it immediately.

So always remain cautious that your site would not remain down, once you have submitted your news in digg.

Now the interesting thing is that there is no panel available in digg where you can claim that your site has not did any spamming, if they banned you means you are out of race from the entire life of that domain.

What I wanted to point out that there should some process through which any one can get the second chance, there should be some way that user can change the URL of the story which he / she has submitted earlier (there might be some way and I might not be aware from it). There should be some way which can decide the spam level.

So the crowd’s decision might not be true every time, there should be some other way for deciding the spam. It will be interesting to watch the views of other people on it.
